Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Twenty years, with 34 years experience as a Landscape Architect.
What is your primary product or service?
Residential design/build/maintain site & landscape services for high quality custom & estate homes.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I always enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hands-on work and creative problem solving. Helping others to improve their lives, family relationships and the environment was very satisfying, prompting me to change my college major from engineering to Landscape Architecture.
Wide range of project types over my career, working on commercial, community, land & site planning as well as home landscapes. Project designer & manager for a diverse mix of large & difficult projects, including multi-million dollar recreation complexes; parks; resort & housing developments;commercial office & retail centers; business district revitalization.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My practice has developed into a design/build/maintain service primarily because I have experienced far greater client & personal satisfaction from nurturing my projects from concept through implementation, assuring the best outcome, greatest return on investment and identifying & achieving the true long-term goals of my client.
My focus is on the best interest of the client, maximizing the benefits for their dollars invested in a high quality landscaped environment- rather than the selling of product, cookie-cutter design or self-serving business goals so common in my industry.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
My work is primarily site based, meeting with clients and carrying out projects at their properties.
I bring a team of expert craftsmen to each project, my plans for expansion are to increase the number of projects and team members to increase benefits to my clientele without any loss in creative, high quality solutions.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash or check
Which areas do you service?
Most of my work has been in Oakland County to the Plymouth/Northville area, with some second home projects in the Tawas & Petosky/Harbor Springs areas. I would accept projects in any location where I believe I could effectively accomplish the client's goals.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I personally own Cusick Design Corp. and act as designer/ project manager for every project.
What are your hours of operation?
Client consultations by appointment; calls accepted at any time at (248) 423-6672 with 24/7 voice mail; work carried out as project needs dictate.
